Universal Precautions Test 

1. Universal precautions are a set of precautions to prevent transmission of HIV, HBV, and other blood borne pathogens during delivering health care.
2. Under universal precautions, blood and certian body fluids are considered potnetially infectious for HIV, HBV and other blood borne pathogens.
3. Universal precautions do not apply to feces, nasal secrections, sputum, sweat, tears, urine, and vomitus unless they contain observable blood.
4. Universal precautions do not apply to saliva except when obviously contaminated with blood or where blood contamination of is predicatable.
5. Universal precautions ential the use of protective barriers such as gloves, gowns, aprons, masks or protective eyewear.
6. Pregnant health care women are not at higher risk of contracting HIV infection than are non-pregnant health care personnel.
7. Hands and other skin surfaces should be washed at once when contaminated with blood or body fluids obviously contaminated with blood.
8. Masks and protective eyewear or face shields should be worn by health care personnel during performance of splashy procedures.
9. To prevent needle stick injuries, needles should not be manually handled or manipulated.
10. Common infection control approach should further reduce the small risk for salivary transmission of HIV.
