LIVE-IN CARE IN WATERFORD, CT

Live-in care provides clients with a Caregiver who stays on-site and accessible overnight. The most common type of live-in care involves a five day period of care with respite services on the weekends. Seven-day care is also available. Live-in Caregivers have authorized and scheduled breaks throughout the day, but they are always available for emergencies. All breaks are specified in the client’s care plan. Services include:

PERSONAL CARE

Caregivers are available to help with all of the day-to-day activities that many of us take for granted but that help us all to look and feel our best. Generally, these services include assistance with toileting, personal hygiene, oral care, dressing, grooming, and medication reminders.

When needed, and following the principles of body mechanics and ergonomics, Caregivers are also available to assist clients with transfers. This can include support with standing, walking, and positioning. Our staff will work with the full range of needs of clients, from those that require minimal assistance to those that have complete dependence. Our Caregivers are trained in the use of various tools to support transfers, including Hoyer (and other) lifts, slide boards, gait belts, and other assistive devices.

HOUSEKEEPING

Caregivers are available to help with house cleaning, bed making, laundry, and the removal of trash and recycling from the home. Our Caregivers follow the CareCo Standard with all housekeeping services—this is a prescribed schedule of cleaning and care designed to achieve full client satisfaction. For example, the CareCo Standard dictates the kitchen and bathroom will be cleaned after every use, the bed will be made daily, and all bedding will be laundered at least once a week (more often if needed).

Caregivers will conduct meal planning with clients on a daily or weekly basis. Special attention will be given to nutritional value and special diets or food restrictions such as allergies, problems swallowing, or diabetes related concerns. Caregivers are available to prepare meals according to the meal plans.
